Don't slam the concept--it works great within an appropriate domain. Think about the fees they would have to charge if they had a huge call center which answered the phone on the first ring and if they instantly refunded your money the same day you filed a dispute. "You get what you pay for" applies here (as it seems to in most situations).

I agree with Rally. I have been a member since early on as well and have probably been involved in 300-400 transactions with no problems so far (knocking on wood).
When I was required to become verified, I just happened to be in the process of changing banks. So, I went through the verification process and promptly closed the bank account - since I do not perform any transactions directly to or from my bank account - they are none the wiser. When I do withdraw my money from PayPal, I always do via a check - they do charge $1.50 per check, but to me, I am willing to pay that instead of giving them direct access to my bank account.
