Starts immediately, revs quite high then after about 3 seconds coughs and dies. If I hold the sensor plate open it keeps going but underduress, coughing and spluttering, if I really want to rev it up it goes well and sounds really good, but won't idle and dies.

The sensor plate seems to take a fair bit of pressure to pop it up, I have another VW Golf Cabriolet which has the Jetronic fuel system, and its sensor is really lightly balanced, and pops up with even the lightest touch. So maybe the vacuum leads from the WUR are flawed, or even maybe the wrong way round, will need to look on the weekend when we go out to the farm again. Don't see much other possible adjustment to the sensor plate or arm, the idle screw is there, but not sure if that really effect the balance of the arm and the lift pressure on the sensor, any answers there guys.

Had a gauge on the fuel pressure and it is fine, at the fuel pump, accumulator, and WUR, as per the manual, so maybe it is air starvation, air leaks or vacuum leaks, although none are showing up. I have seen from other threads that I should get a flammable spray and a straw and trace the air and vacuum leads when the car is at idle and warmed up, yeah right, as if I can get it to idle, or to go long enough to be warm.

Got spark etc, that doesn't look like the problem. The fuel pump is running.
