i know you guys don't brew beer, but i did something interesting:
i might have mentioned that i started some hard cider. knowing that apple juice doesn't have the nutrients and such that the yeast require, i boiled a couple of tablespoons of bakers yeast in cup or so of water and added that to the fermenter. the brewer's yeast fermented five gallons of apple juice, completely, before the next morning. i am amazed. i thought i had a stuck ferment, because i never saw the airlock when it was bubbling actively.
i didn't come up with this little trick, but it is the first time i've tried it.
