50% is a good rule of thumb but it isn't universal. New Targa tops are over $10K, but perfect used ones aren't getting $5K by a long shot.

I have bought and sold several used sets with the trombone cooler in the $350-600 range. Add $200 for a 28 row cooler, maybe $300 for a Carrera cooler. Even so, these do not "fly off the shelves" at these prices.

If your trombone is the '73-only type, that may be worth a few bucks to the right buyer (concourse type). I don't know how to spot the unique trombone by sight, but someone here or on earlyS will. There was a guy here on pelican looking for one for a while, check the classifieds.
