I get your drift as far as list prices being high . But used merchandase , that is fairly common does not equate to high pricing.
I do not know about the regulator. But the actual cooler in your photo is neither a 1972 (radiator style) or 1973 (loop) unit. The loop is not correct for 73 MY (you can find photos of one on this forum , it is one year only).
I would guess the lines are post 73MY also as the junction fittings change per front cooler type also ...again 1973MY is one year only. Much of this stuff is one year only for many related pre-74 cooler systems. For instance , intermediatary pipes (connect long pipes with radiator cooler) for 1972MY are one year only.
Check the PET catalogs and you can see for yourself.
The big dollar systems are 1973 MY & earlier in good condition , which can be used for S model restorations.
