I am married to a retired dietician. She practises on me now. She would say eat red meat in moderation. It is a source of iron. I have high cholesterol now. Doc says that I should be on meds for it but I said give me 6 months and I will get it down. So I dont eat much red meat. Fish is good(good fats). Turkey, chicken(preferably not smoked) has less fat in it. Eat lots of fruit and veg. Mediterranean diet is good - fish, olive oil, garlic, whole wheat pasta. Have high blood pressure but take pills for that. Read food labels. Avoid transfat/saturated fat. Red wine in moderation is good and dark chocolate for the flavenoids. Did I says I was married to a dietician! We fast walk about 2 hours a day. Sounds tedious? You get used to it.
