I've seen wear at the bushing bracket on the last two 914s I had. new bushings were sloppy, so I cleaned the snot out of the brackets and inserted the bushings with JB weld on the OD. Worked like a charm. If the shift rod is worn I would be a little nervous about using epoxy to repair that. Either oversized bushing or weld the rod up and have it machined.
