While i cant specifically suggest anyone in the Michigan area, I can tell you some things to look for.
1. Look at the shop, is it clean? Usually a clean shop is an indication of a mechanic who takes pride in what he does. Im not talking spotless, but a shop where everything is organized, tools, parts, etc..
2. Ask the mechanic for references, a good mechanic will have no problem referring you to other clients for opinions.
3. Find out what certifications or experience he has. The more the better.
Dont look to much at the outside of the shop for opinions, it's inside that counts.
At 80K you literally are just breaking the car in.
