Personally, I still use 3M hand glaze in straight motions, never circles to remove light scratches and swirl marks.
One tip I learned long ago was to NEVER wash/wax/polish the vehicle with circular motions(unless using a machine designed for it).
My cars, daily drivers included) are not perfect but the paint has a deep gloss with no swirl marks.
Hopefully, Juan Ruiz will chime in and add his tips. He does incredible work detailing vehicles.
