Fantasy 914
The 914 is different things to different people...(I am not admitting to being different in a 'weird' way)...I think that is one of the qualities making it such a great car. To some, its a collectable classic car, to others a street racer and to most others, something in between.
We have seen many stock restorations and many cars modified to minor and even radical ways. 914's have become 914/6's, track racers, Porschevs, 916's, GT's M471's and even a couple of 928 conversions.
The conversion/replica idea that gets me droolin' is a 914/8 like the prototype built for Dr Ferry Porche...you know the warm silver one-of-a-kind Porsche 908 8 cylinder, 260hp hardtop, not the red one for Piech. Seems mostly straight forward...maybe put the 928 motor in instead (anyone have a 908 motor?). The interesting details like the gas filler door in the hood and the steel sunroof would be something to see. I feel the need to go to the Fatherland to 'research'...is it tax deductible or is there a good book available?
Has this been done before, if so is it documented somewhere? What is your fantasy 914 like?
