Actually the studies show if you eat 20% or more of your protein as animal protein it shortens you life and brings on cancer, heart attack, and stroke. These studies were done on life span and health averages of populations comparing their diets. It also showed that offspring of those long lived healthy people lost their longevity after changing to a western diet of higher animal protein and matched the longevity and health concerns of western peoples in as little as 2 generations.

The good news is that you can reverse the effects of high animal protein diets by eating 5% or less animal protein. I just hate that as I likes my animal protein.
