Can anybody offer any thoughts on this one?

The fuel injectors on my car make a ticking sound.
They sound like tappets - in fact thats what I thought they were for a long while.

I can hear the tick from several yards away - is this normal or could it be the sign of a worn injector? Or does it sound like they haven't got enough pressure from the pump?
