The holy grail is usually the Davis Vantage Pro which is going to run you between $500 and $1000 depending upon options. I assume you aren't that interested in the weather.

A common entry level is something like the Oregon Scientific WMR100 or WMR200.

You may also want to check out WXforum.net - Index and http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/ (scroll down for the weather station specific forums).

I think that for a decent entry level setup you're probably looking at $200-300, but maybe some of the $100-200 stuff is good enough. It's been a while since I perused.
