The procedure is not well documented in the owner's manual. Here is the process:
To get the top down, first, I suggest you begin by buying it a glass of wine or perhaps a Cosmopolitan. Complement the car on the choice of fabric for the top. If the car is receptive, you might briefly touch one of the seams near the A pillar. Don't linger.
Another round of drinks is in order at this point. Martini or if the surroundings merit, Margaritas. I find that Margaritas on the rocks work more quickly than the frozen variety, but other users report similar results.
Carefully, but directly, release both latches at the top of the A pillars. Act surprised, as if you didn't mean to do it. Caution - do not make sudden moves at this time or attempt to lower the top further. Your eagerness will freeze the top in the closed position. Return to the conversation, even glance at other cars to introduce uncertainty. At this point in the process, the more patience you have, the quicker the top will retract when the time comes.
Pretend to leave. As you begin to walk away, tell the car in a directive voice that it's time for some open top motorboating. Press the button, and watch the top unveil a beautiful pair of firm sport seats.
YMMV.
