Blackberry didn't evolve with the times.
Below is a pict of the 2005 7000 series blackberry. If you compare it to a new blackberry, the new one is just smaller. Some features. Some options. Nothing inherently changed in the structures.
The best selling phone of 2005 was a Motorola rzer v3. Pictures below. It was a good phone for the day but doesn't compare to what we use now, with Droids, and Iphones.
I work in mobile support every day. We are in my company developing a app to allow people with smart phones to get there email securely though their existing phone. As soon as we get this into production I expect our blackberry use to drop in half in 3 years. I expect it to drop our blackberry used down to 20% of high in 6 years.
Blackberry had it made when it was the smart phones. Other company's came in and did what they did better and smarter. Rim could have made the iphone. They didn't and it might kill them.
