I just built a new motor this winter for my race car. It's been working great for 2 weekends now, but a problem has come up. It started smoking out the left bank yesterday when I drove it to the gas station. I assumed I'd broken a ring or holed a piston. I pulled it apart and there is no apparent reason for the oil. The combustion chamber was wet with oil and the piston had about 50 percent less friction when I pulled it out that the other 2 pistons had. It could be that the less friction was from all the oil in the cylinder. The only anomaly I can find is the oil control ring is a little less tight in the bore than the other cylinders (none of them are very tight, they are just flimsy little rings).

At this point the only things I can think of are stuck rings that fixed themselves when I remove the piston, glazed cylinders or unseated rings (they don't look any different than the other cylinders and rings), or maybe a stuck open oil squirter.

Has anyone seen a stuck open oil squirter? does it cause that cylinder to oil up at low speed?
