After literally decades of lusting after a silverburst Les Paul, I went and bought a Studio yesterday. Back in 1983, I bought a brand-new SG. Hanging on the wall right next to it was a silverburst Les Paul custom. Stunning, but also $2500 (in 1983 dollars) and way out of budget for a college student.
The Les Paul sounds really good and plays well right out of the box. I am also really impressed with the coil tapping. I was skeptical at first, but I can actually coax believable single-coil tones out of it.
I still have the SG that I bought in 1983...
