Two other planes had hung back for some reason and were able to pull up and out.

sucks. we just had a guy go down out in the mojave a couple of weeks ago. last summer, we lost a guy in the grand canyon area...it was eerie looking at the giant tv monitor in my area, and seeing the guys callsign listed on an Alert Notice...for weeks. Took months to find his wreckage.
