What Ford was saying was that Taylor's defense provided no testimony of their own. Remember, the defense attorney was hanging his hat on the charge being dismissed based on lack of evidence from the prosecution. He presented no defense other than cross-x of the state witnesses, for which the prosecutor did give credit. However, the defense should have called Barbara, the woman that picked Taylor and Beck up near the crime scene.
The fact that hundreds of cases were potentially tainted by the practices of the SBI and its lab is horrifying. Another man that was released after nearly 17 years won $3.9 million in compensatory damages. This kind of justice system is no justice at all. I have seen where police rush to judgement and pursue a single assumption without hardly a speck of evidence and in the face of conflicting eyewitness testimony. When you have people in that system that will conceal evidence that clearly reveals someone's innocence, you wind up with the state robbing citizens of their lives.
