There is no discoloration. Perhaps slight swelling when compared to the other foot/ankle, but I do mean slight - boots still fit on okay, but are laced a little looser on that foot.
I'll try the ice/heat/ibuprofen route with reduced usage. If not change, then I'll suck it up and see the local doc.
May still use this as an excuse to buy a pimp cane and hat. lol
