Excellent decision Scott. Santa Ynez is a very quaint town with quality people in the middle of an obscene amount of money (horse ranches and wineries). Wife and I love visiting there - my good friend is a private pilot and has a hanger at the Santa Ynez airport.
I suggest a pre-dinner drink at Maverick saloon on the corner of Sagunto St. and Meadowvale Rd. In the morning head over to Valley Grind (3558 Sagunto Street) for incredible coffee and pastries with a very relaxed setting and friendly locals. Last time we were there a lady came by with two Alpacas on leash - one was mellow the other liked to spit

If you are in the mood to pack a lunch and do a winery tour head over to El Rancho Marketplace (2886 Mission Drive, Solvang, CA 93463). Small local market with high end foods at reasonable prices. Winery visits I suggest are Firestone (awesome property and facilities) and Foxen (not much to see but great wine).
If you find yourself in Santa Barbara I highly recommend watching the sunset at Brophy Bros (119 Harbor Way, Santa Barbara, CA). They are on top of the SB harbor with views of the harbor and SB foothills + mountains. One of the best views in California with great (simple) seafood and a nice bar. Get a seat outside on the deck. Wonderful place.
Have fun!
