We have a key note speaker who is famous in some circles. There isn't a theme per se, but the festival will be focusing mainly on 19th century Americana. It is an up and coming era for literature study. I would describe it as the literary equivalent of America's arts and crafts movement.
It was chosen because the Midwest was a hub of American Folk literature. An example is author Gene Stratton-Porter (1863-1924).
I kind of like the idea of the stringed quartet. I'll have to keep my ears open for a group, pun intended.
The costume thing has been discussed, I may need to bring it up again.
