I'm not sure if your car is LHD or RHD (you said driver's side), but the motor's oil lines run down the right side of the car (oil tank side) and then up into the front fender, over the front tire, an then down to the oil cooler in the front bumper (right side). It is normal for this path of the oil lines to get hot.
