looks to me like somebody wearing slacks or jeans with metal gussets was resting his stupid ass against your car while having a casual conversation, causing the scratching (which looks to be easily buffed out)....and in the process, one of the gussets caused a chip in the door.
No matter what, I'd be pissed and looking for blood.
