Thumbs up

Ok, I finally got my engine back, albeit, still in pieces but the "Meister" didn't do too much work before I stopped the presses! The heads were machined and the IMS and bearing are "new". I was forced to buy parts that MM said were damaged when the IMS bearing went out. I asked if MM would take them back and MM said "No" even though 3 of 4 were "good" used parts from his stock. I had given them a deposit using a credit card but they would not give me my engine back until I paid them cash, my card would be credited for my deposit. They know if its paid by a card then you can use the credit card company to help fight them. I wanted to move forward so I paid the cash, got my engine back in pieces, and I inventoried it as best I could using exploded views of all parts of the engine. I definitely got my block back since I was able to get the block # from Porsche.

That was a short version of the story.

My question now is: where do I go from here? Rebuild what I have, buy a verified "good" used engine, or both? Both - so I can drive my car while rebuilding. I know Flat 6 Innovations is one of the best in the country for rebuilds, but they charge a premium for their work (I hear its worth every dime) but I don't have $20K for them to rebuild it. I considered doing it myself but have very limited experience with rebuilding engines never mind a Porsche Engine. However, I'm willing to learn and buy the tools needed. I am even considering taking Jake Raby's rebuilding class. Who is reputable for used engines? Smeone suggested the following:

Oklahoma Foreign

DC Automotive

20th street salvage

Parts heaven

LA Porsche dismantlers - mixed reviews on these guys.

Anyone have feedback about any of the above?

Thanks for any help advice!
