Talked with the owner at length yesterday. For it's age, he had quite a bit of knowledge about the history of the car, noting it spent some time in Poland. he's had several people look at it, highest offer was $4500. The car is very complete and from the sound of it, in better shape than most barn find 60s 911s I see. He's had it for over 20+ years and is fine with keeping it another 10. He also collects old guns and old BMW motorcycles.
I asked him about value and he thought it was worth $15K fully restored. I asked about European buyers and he said that since this particular car is a base model, he likened it to a Model A, it won't command much. He also didn't want the hassle of shipping overseas.
I got the sense I could get the car for $5K, but wouldn't be worth it unless an overseas buyer was lined up for at least $10K.
