I recently tracked my 97 boxster pretty aggressively which resulted in some pretty gnarly premature wear. As a result, I decided to throw on a used set of Cayman S front brakes and be done with it.

We went to Buttonwillow to get familiar with the track before our LeMons 24 hr race there. I hadnt been to Buttonwillow before which Im sure helped lead to my brake issue.

Even with larger brake ducts and a more agressive Pagid compound the pads self destructed. The brakes felt ok, if not a little stiffer than normal...but the real indication was the metal on metal sound in the pits

So out came the Cayman S brakes, all the part numbers cross referenced to a 986S for fitment. I did a quick paint job to match the calipers to the rear, it might be worth a proper powdercoating later. I think the large blacks look like an oldschool M030 option...

The weight of the Cayman S corner was roughly 26lbs, the same bits in stock 986 form weigh 23lbs if I recall correctly.

Upon test drives I notice a slightly more solid feel to the pedal, but that could be going back to a factory pad. They've been blown up hard and take every last bit of it with confidence! I havent felt any drawbacks of the added unsprung and rotational mass...
