Just got back from a nearby mountain - found a great place to watch the show!
The welding helmet was the ticket! I was surprised that we (in southern Oregon) got the full "ring of fire" annular eclipse instead of the "c" shaped one. I thought I'd need to be further south to get the whole effect.
Very cool to watch.
