You need to put the housing up on a wood blocks, and with a wood mallet(*) pound on the alternator shaft. Make sure something soft is under the alternator when it pops out. Putting it back in is no fun either. Let TRE deal with it.

* A block of wood - like a 2x4, between the shaft and a metal hammer works as well.
