Anyone know if these holes are for any factory application piece ?
They are not normal as far as I know , but I have seen these on three differant OE ducktails , & out of three black 73-74 metal grills I have . One happens to have holes drilled all the way through in the spots that correspond to the holes shown on the pictured tail. It was from a 74 carrera that had holes in it's duck in the same spots....but nothing there (not even bolts) , when I acquired it with this grill (extra holes) installed and bolted down with it's standard 6 studs.
A grill does not need to be attached here as they are very well secured with the normal 6 studs. So there is no need for anyone to drill extra holes through a tail here and the grill in the aligned spots for through bolts (and it seems like a hassle to do ......drilling through the grill in this spot means drilling through 2 layers of metal....for no real benefit) .
That fact ...and seeing three OE ducks with these holes makes me wonder if there is not some application that has something hung/attached here ?
