Well yes , I know that the 72-74 black metal grills (and I would assume the 70-71 silver versions) have spaces for bolts(studs ..their actually bolts) to be inserted in the ends of the vertical bars ...but they are inserted when the verticle bar is initially bent/wrapped around the grill mesh during the making of the grill.
I have never seen any 5 bar grils , either 70-71 silver or 72-74 black versions , with 10 studs vs. 6 (or 8 studs if only the bottom provisions were used). And as I mentioned to start , the grill I have that goes with a duck that had fasteners in that position. Has the spots in the bottom of the two applicable grill verticle bars drilled through - not bolts built in.
If anyone has seen a grill with more than 6 bolts built in (studs) - let us know. I would think I would have heard of it but ....
Lastly again , owners could do it on their own (drill these two spots - but why - it is not needed for just the grill itself. I would think it has to do with another piece other than the grill.
