There are many opinions on this...

My friend cracked spark-plug in his SAAB Turbo (aluminium 16-valve top) by forcing plugs on cold engine. They had to remove the top to get ir out. I always change plugs on warm engine and use anti-seize lubricant. (copper-grease). Never ever stripped a thread...it's a good idea not to overtorque plugs.
