So I did a top end on the webers today. Banjo bolt screens, drained the crap out of the float bowls, blew the idles and mains, pulled and gapped the plugs. Three of the air horns were disintegrating (held together with duct tape)...that can't be good, so swapped those out. Unfortunately, all I have for extra 46 mm air horns are plastic. Is PMO the only steel resource fror air horns? If someone on the board has extra steel horns for sale (46s) please let me know via PM.

All of that is pretty easy on a 6...vs a 911. However...I checked the firing order of the plug wires and decided to check the points gap...yeah right! How the hell do you rotate the crank using the 22mm socket on the fan nut? My arms do not articulate backwards. There is no room to both keep the socket on the fan, and with the other hand, tension the belt to get the crank to turn. Please don't tell me I need to get the rear of the car up on jackstands, put the car in gear and turn a rear wheel. I guess I could mark the dizzie position and pull it to check the gap, then reinstall it watching my marks, or...ok guys, let me in the club...what's the trick?
Another weird thing, I kept thinking that the PO had mixed up the wires coming off the dizzie...till I remembered that now 162435 is backwards...whoa, that was weird. Starts right up, but seems very rich. Lots of backfiring though the carbs. I amp pumping the throttle to keep it running long enough to warm up so I can adjust the mixture screws, and it dies off.
PO had the carbs adjusted for 5000 ft and I am at 8000 ft. My other carbed (911s) are not that fussy with the elevation change. I was trying without the air cleaners on...that shouldn't make a difference
