65-69 Corvair. Cheap, easy to work on, great autocross cars, easy to find parts, great enthusiast base. (if you want a great Baton Rouge/ New Orleans contact, let me know). I've been tinkering with them since the early 70's....I'd sell all of my Porsches before I'd let go of any of mine.
