Kim - Your dad saw a lot. It is much appreciated and respected, and I'm very glad to see that you have pride in his service.
Fwiw, when I received my Air Force commission, my dad pinned one of his 2Lt bars on one shoulder and my mother pinned one of hers (which went through Normandy with the first Army Nurse landing) on the other shoulder.
A 2Lt is frequently called a "Brown Bars" - mine really were, and the tarnish meant a lot to me. No way was I going to polish them. Still have them. Still brown.
