When I went to the Shouldice no pain meds, except for a bit of Tylenol, never needed it. I was walking the same day, went home the next morning and back at work and driving 2 days later.
My brother didn't listen to me (or more likely couldn't afford it) and was in hospitial for the better part of a week plus it took him months to fully recover.
