Inquiring minds want to know

Assuming that all sides are square, a simple way to cut the top, is with the table saw. The table saw blade has a kerf of 1/8". Not bad, but enough that you can notice when lining up grain. The bandsaw has a kerf of 1/16", but the blade likes to wander. So... How to get a nice even cut?
I have vague memories of doing this in high school. Pretty sure you use a table saw, but don't cut the lot in one pass. Raise the blade so that you just cut each edge using the saw guide to set the depth from the top edge. That way you minimise the effect of the blade kerf.
