It seems like there's definitely two opposing camps, and I can see both sides. I guess it just depends on the condition of your car. If it's pristine, it's not going to stay that way on dirt. Personally, I buy cars for specific purposes: off-roading, street, and racing. The only ones I "cross-purpose" are my 4x4s which I drive on the street. This philosophy has gotten my into the seven car mess that I'm in, so maybe it's a good strategy, not a great strategy.
