Yeah, just run the heck out of it. Just monitor your temps. Hesitating can be a lean mixture, not getting enough fuel so it chokes. A little smoke from the engine compartment is probably oil residue burning off. If you can pinpoint exactly where it's coming from, make sure to monitor that area. I used Engine degreaser on the "lower" portion of my engine and sprayed water from the bottom. Avoid spraying on top as there are too many electricals that can get ruined. Especially the harness which is normally cracked up due to age and hardening.
