Australia is a lovely place (one of my favorite places in the world) but you know there are things there (especially in the boonies) that could kill you or your child at a moments notice even if you're careful. Dingos are only part of it. I would have thought a child would be safe in a tent but obviously not.

We camp a lot (regular sites and backcountry) and live in the country, I see city folk doing real stupid poop all the time. Many don't even know how to start a fire. Even if they were just a few feet from the tent an animal in total stealth mode would be hard to detect.
