We install lots of the Mitsubishi Split/Ductless (aka Mr Slim)units at work for places where we need a bit of cooling and/or heating. They come with wireless remotes so you don't even need to wire a thermostat.
As David noted above, easy install, runs silently, seems to last forever.
(David where in Clear Lake are you? We used to live on Diana Lane out there)
