Back in the 50s my dad built a 29 Ford roadster on 32 rails.
The car was pretty special and was featured on the cover of some hot rod mag. (still trying to find a copy)
At the time, my dad was an engineer making $1.50 an hour and raising 3 kids.
At some point the car was bundled up and parked for lack of funds to rebuild.
35 years later, Pop went on a mission to rebuild the car.
He spent 20 years collecting part at swap meets, garage sale and shopping the Penny Saver in search of the parts needed to restore it to its glory.
About 6 years ago he got it running but lost interest in finishing the project.
It was traded to a car builder (Don) here in Fallbrook for a Porsche project he had and he started to complete the little rod.
About a year ago the car was completed and Don invited my dad down to see her.
I got some picture of my dad in the car and I would say he was about as happy as I've seen him in years.
Well, in February of 2012 my dad passed away.
My mom told me driving that old hot rod really made his day.
Three weeks ago Don came by and asked if I wanted to buy it back. He was having some contractor issues and needed quick money for his remodel.
Suffice to say, the 29 Ford is back in my barn.
