On the older ones, from more than a foot or so away, you can't really see the lines. Even from closer, most wouldn't notice them unless they were looking for them.
It's their inexpensive way of "fauxing" the Fuchs factory anodize finish.

my aging eyes detected the lines and the dreaded macro along with the finger touch test proved it was not just a hallucination....but quattrorunner says smooth, wonder when it changed? not a big deal just curious.
i assume they are not clearcoated, correct?
