Check w/ the specific tire manufacturer whose tires you are interested in, but most 245/45 x16 that I've seen are spec'd for 7.5 to 9" wheels, the narrower the wheel the better ride, the wider the wheel the better performance can be expected.

Just a FYI
Toyo RA1 are a great choice even for street use

and Bridgestone has come out w/ that size in their excellent RE-11 line

looks like at least some manufacturers have been listening
