Porsche Crest 1986 911 Carrera Targa

Welcome to my 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa. This is a California car, always has been, this means NO rust. Also, everything on the car works…everything.

The 3.2 Carrera represents one of the greatest Porsche's ever made. From 1984 to 1989, this 911 represented the peak of 911 evolution and stands today as a great blend between the classic and modern 911.

I am not a car dealer; I am an individual selling my own personal car. I will disclose to you here absolutely everything I know about this fantastic car. Test drives are welcome; just let me know when you'd like to come over. Professional inspection at one of the area Porsche shops is also welcome, at your expense.

Please scroll down and take a look at the photos. I have tried to photograph the vehicle from every possible angle. As you can see the paint is spectacular fresh 8 months ago, bare metal paint job matching the factory original. There is not a single dent or ding or scratch anywhere on the body, not one. The wheels and tires are excellent. New Hankook V12 tires with lots of tread life remaining. The wheels all look great; one has some curb rash that I can have repaired at full price. On the front of the car, you will notice that it is equipped with the factory black rubber "chin spoiler", a nice factory upgrade. The 911's suspension is of a fully adjustable design.

As you can see from the photos, this is a beautiful looking car. The color is stock Garnet metallic or Burgundy Red. All the panels are original to the car, they are straight, and the body gaps indicate proper fitment. The targa top fits well without leaks and minimal wind noise. You will notice the targa bar is also in excellent condition, and looks as nice as it probably did when it was new.

Mechanically, this car is excellent. Not just "good", or "okay", but excellent. As I mentioned earlier, the engine had a complete rebuild at 128k miles in 2002. The car has only driven about 35k miles since then, so it still drives like new! Before you decide on that garage queen with only 90k original miles, please go test drive it. Then come test drive mine. I know that other one will feel clunky, saggy, and worn-out in comparison. The gearbox oil has been changed annually, with Kendall oil. The valves have been adjusted annually. All other filters have been changed annually. The battery is a stock Bosche; it was replaces when I bought the car. The car will easily pass the strictest of state emissions tests.

The engine starts right up with the turn of the key both cold and warm, and does not smoke. The idle settles at just under 1k. The engine does run strong, and it's energetic throughout the RPM range. The oil pressure is good and runs about 35+ psi; the engine has NO leaks and uses no oil between oil changes. The clutch grabs tightly and doesn't have any slippage.
The clutch and gearshift is smooth, the transmission is in good shape. The syncro's operate as they should, no grinding. I have always driven stick shift cars and am gentle on my clutch and gearbox's. You can shift into first while rolling easily; to me this indicates that the transmission has been refreshed in its life. The brakes are firm and smooth, no judder or warping, no side pulling.

The interior of this car is two tones, with black colored carpets and cream door panels, and cream colored seats with sheep skin covers. The interior is in good condition, no glaring defects or severely worn-out stuff. The top of the dashboard is perfect with a black cloth dash cover. The air conditioning is functional and blows cold.

The spare tire and all the tools are present, as are the owner’s manuals and service book. The car has new carpet, electric windows, power seats, power locks, a/c, and Clifford Arrow 3 alarm. The stereo is a Blauplunk Heidelberg with a Rockford Fosgate Punch 30 amplifier. Included is a Valentine One radar detector mounted above the rear view mirror. Steve Wong chip set for a stock 3.2 motor. Stock wheels are included but they are rough from having been chromed at some point. Full price gets you a Bentley Manual and 101 Projects from Pelican.

The windshield is new and all the glass is in great shape, the targa top is also in great shape and perhaps has been re-covered at some point.

$20500
