Check with Asus as they made the motherboard and see what they say on line and also with their tech support people. I had this happen years ago and the issue was dust in the connector to the motherboard. Since we have two English bulldogs, two Pugs and a Main Coon, I now clean the computer every few months very well.
You could also try replacing the cables as they do deteriorate over time. Otherwise get a new drive.
