I have my FIL's Kbar from 1942. It holds an edge better than any other blade I have. I can sharpen a chisel well enough to make your eyes bleed from too close a glance but knives have always defeated me. The handle & sheath were badly shrunken so I treated them with Tanner's Preserve that I bought 15 years back for 82 9eleben......the car is long gone but the Tanner's worked great. The leather swolt(?) right back up.
