Apparently Ka Bar does have some knives with their name on them made in China:

"Just because a knive was made in China does not make it a inferior knife, lets face it, the Chinese people work cheaper than we in America do , thus a cheaper product can be produced. The quality of the knife is what you need to look at, not where it was manufactured, some top knife makers like KaBar farm out some of their knives to China, the 1302 is a good example , it is very high quality, well made product, KaBar would not put their name on it if it was not, the 1302 is inexpencive, that is why it is so popular, quality and price. There are some examples of low quality coming from China, but that is true of any country, some folks belive the old saying you get what you pay for, but I think you get what you ask for. Demand a quality product and someone will produce it. KaBar found a way to do this with the 1302, other knife makers have done this also, by opening new lines of knives that are totaly made in China, but made up to their standards, so are we just buying a name? Not really, the name brand knives which are manufactured in China are of a good quality, I would not be afraid to purchace them at all."
