'05 Boxster 45k miles, maintained by dealer by the book... toasted IMS bearing and more. Porsche dealers have been known to replace motors without customers even knowing, but were done as goodwill. Guarded number of failures but if its 5%, thats way too many. Spend some time in the Boxster forum...lots of theory and reason why the failure(s). Most have had great luck and no problems with their cars and some less fortunate. My conclusion is if Porsche is going to stick it up our @ss, might as well be a horseshoe for good luck. As such these cars have plummeted in value, making them great values for those DIY types. I haven't bothered to look if Wayne ever released his kit.
