My local mainstream supermarket has a pretty good selection of dried shrooms... You mentioned Whole foods.... they are almost guaranteed to have them...

I have a good enough relationship with a Thai restaurant near my place, that if I need some wierd Thai ingredient I can walk over, and they will always oblige me with some..

If you frequent a restaurant where morels are part of a dish on the menu, chances are you could walk away with a handful....

We have a huge area around my Vermont house where Chanterelle shrooms are abundant...
